Alan Johnson
My background includes over 40 years of professional architectural work. One of my key activites after work has been art. My work has always included the provision of architectural perspective drawings. Mediums I have used for work outside of architecture in the creation of art has included use of colored pencils, pen and ink along with paint in all mediums. Upon retirement a year ago I increased my production of 3D artwork that includes the construction of architectural elements along with people. Subjects have included: the Seven Deadly Sins, Tower of Babel (see photo below), Rusted City, Stairway to Heaven, Pandora’s Box and Year of the Refugee (see photo below) to name a few.
Art shows I have been in include the Caffeine Club shows at various venues for over 5 years, Northshore Gallery, Chicago Center for Neighborhood Technology and Elmhurst Art Museum.
I am a member of Elmhurst Artist Guild and was a winner at the Winter Show at the Elmhurst Art Museum in February of 2016 and Winner of Peoples Choice at Upcycled Art Show in 2015.
Another key activity after work has been provision of lectures and being a class leader for programs at ICLRU at Roosevelt University in Schaumburg and OLLI at Northwestern University in Evanston. Subjects have included lectures on Documentary Films, Egypt architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright, Women Artists through the Centuries, Art in Europe and History of Reconstruction after Civil War.
