Bob Masterson

I retired in 2005 after 33 years with the Social Security Administration. Recognizing the need for a new social network, I joined ICL in 2006. I was privileged to be the ICL Board President from June 2009 to June 2010 and was instrumental in ICL’s transition to a 501(c)3 charitable organization in August 2009. In September 2010, when Roosevelt ended administrative support for ICL, I became the organization’s Office Manager, and have remained in that position.

Almost immediately after joining ICL I recognized the value of being a study group coordinator. Since joining I have facilitated numerous programs in art history such as “Museum Masterpieces: The Louvre”, “The History of Impressionism”, “Great Artists of the Italian Renaissance”, “Rembrandt”, and numerous short programs on individual artists such as Carracci, Caravaggio, and Hieronymos Bosch. In addition to art, I have facilitated study groups in other aspects history such as the History of WWI, Turning Points in American History, The Cuban Missile Crisis, Great Trials, Great Presidential Decisions, and others. My wife Sue, a member since 2008, has worked with me, as co-coordinator on many of these study groups. We will be presenting “The World’s Greatest Paintings” study group this Fall. I find that preparing and presenting ICL programs is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a member.
