Joan Brody

I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago – first in Hyde Park then South Shore. I subsequently moved to Schaumburg and went to Harper College and Roosevelt University. In 2003, because I had the luxury of flex time at work, I was able to take study groups at ICL. The first class I took was “Foods of the World” where we talked about food, then went to different ethnic restaurants to eat. While I went back to work, the other classmates stayed for hours talking. It was great.

I continued taking classes and then I coordinated a baking class called “Let Us Eat Cake” and then “Current Events” after participating for years. I’ve taken many field trips and tours with the ICL Travel Club with fellow ICL members. It has been a wonderful experience being part of ICL with its great people, classes, adventures, and social opportunities.
