ICL is a non-profit, membership organization, located in Schaumburg, Illinois, open to seniors age 55 and over, who have reached a point in life where they want to pursue their interests in a continuing learning and social environment with a group of like-minded peers.
Mission
Our mission is to offer members a non-credit, non-degree educational program, together with social and cultural opportunities, through which adults 55 and older may share their talents, experiences and skills.
Vision
Our vision is to enrich our members’ experiences, while making the ICL an essential organization for Roosevelt University and our larger community.

ICL Board
ICL Committees
The ICL Board has established the following committees to help carry out the objectives of ICL:
- Program Development — recruits coordinators and provides assistance as needed, schedules Study Groups, and sponsors ‘Eat and Meet’ lunches in Rm. 506.
- Events — plans and implements activities that may be of interest to ICL members including:
- Field Trips
- Social Events for members and guests
- Seminars
- Other Off-Campus Events such as Operas, Plays, etc.
- Lecture Series — plans and implements ICL’s annual Winter Lecture Series, which is presented from mid-January to mid-March, and possible additional dates.
- Website — maintains the ICL website.
- Social Media — communicates information about ICL to current and potential members as well as exposing members to supplementary enriching activities.
- Development — initiates contacts with community organizations to publicize ICL and seeks means to raise funds from external sources.
- ICL Reads — plans study groups, book discussions, a social event, and other activities that will complement the book selected for the general membership to read.
- Membership — recruits and welcomes new members to ICL and promotes meaningful engagement with current members to encourage participation in ICL events and activities which enrich the membership experience.
