What they say about us

As a newly retired teacher, I found I needed to continue to learn, so finding ICL was a lifesaver. I have been taking and leading classes since 2002. Enlightening, engaging, and fun!

Terri Collins

The highlight of the Virtual Classes for me is seeing familiar faces I’ve been missing. I recommend the classes to members and encourage those who participate to spread the word!

I received my BA degree from the University of Minnesota with a major in French and minor in English. Then I began my career in Personnel and Training, now known as Human Resources. In the beginning I spent most of my time interviewing job applicants and related functions. Then I was assigned a territory and I scheduled visits to offices in my territory to complete inspections of procedures, training, performance, and such and prepare reports of my findings. After 20 years in that career, I attained my real estate license and was a broker for 37+ years. I retired on February 2022 and shortly thereafter I learned about ICL from a neighbor and immediately joined. The opportunity to attend as many classes that interest me brings me into contact with many people so I can add more friends to my circle.

JoAnn Galluzzi

JoAnn Galluzzi holds a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in Theatre/English and a Master’s degree from Northwestern University in Theatre.  Her career includes teaching theatre, speech and English at the high school and college levels as well as serving as a Director of Marketing and Communications for higher education and non-profit organizations.

She enjoys attending theatre performances, hiking through forest preserves, reading good books, listening to classical music and traveling.

I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago – first in Hyde Park then South Shore. I subsequently moved to Schaumburg and went to Harper College and Roosevelt University. In 2003, because I had the luxury of flex time at work, I was able to take study groups at ICL. The first class I took was “Foods of the World” where we talked about food, then went to different ethnic restaurants to eat. While I went back to work, the other classmates stayed for hours talking. It was great.

I grew up in Chicago and went to college at Northeastern. I married Stephen and we had 3 wonderful children and two grandchildren. I have been a teacher, a CPA, and a fiber artist.

I have been part of ICLRU for the last ten years. In this time, I have had the pleasure of teaching a number of classes — some with my husband, Steve — and some with other friends I have made at ICLRU.

Is There a Flower in You?

This Study Group was presented by Judy Krakowiak and Mariann Fitzgerald.

It was fun doing this class, chatting with the other women and seeing everyone’s beautiful art work. Judy is great; very patient and very funny. She makes it look easy. Just follow her instructions and you will have beautiful gift bags to share or maybe not share.
